    Cam Position Sensor

So I am back at this problem. I just replaced the Cam position sensor after a mechanic diagnosed the oil leak. After replacing it with a Duralast sensor it is still leaking. Anyone have a clue as to why this would be?

I guess it has to be the gasket, the Duralast must be a crappy one

check the cam magnet too... i heard things go wrong there too. i just replaced my sensor too, haven't thrown the code again at all... i don't think i have to replace the magnet.. if it happens again i will be getting both.

I am not throwing any codes so it leads me to believe that both the sensor and magnet are fine, it is just leaking oil

This might be a ridiculous question but is there anyway that there may be an excessive amount of oil by the cam sensor which would make it leak ?

not that i know of. a oil flow modifier would lessen the amount of oil in the head though.

are you sure it's leaking from the sensor, and not from the valve cover?

I am positive. I have cleaned around and under the sensor, installed the new sensor and run my finger and a rag under it now and there is fresh oil.

maybe i can't picture how close the cam position sensor is in relation to where the valve cover meets the head. just making sure you weren't overlooking it somehow.

Yea I gotcha, trying to explore all options. I am going to get an OE sensor and hopefully that will do the trick. Sucks that I have already spent 40 bucks on the Autozone one but o well, you live and learn.
