its 42bux from autozone for a lifetime replacement warranty CPS. do yourself a favor and go to the dealer too and get a cam position reference magnet. they are 17 bux. do both at the same time for best results.

The CPS is on the drivers side of the head on the front. it is the black thing shaped like a football. The magnet is screwed to the camshaft. you can see it clearly when you remove the CPS. It is prone to cracking. When i changed mine, the magnet had crazed badly, and was causing the p0344/p0340. The magnet only goes on the cam one way, it's really idiotproof. Just make sure you dont overtorque the magnet or the CPS, and make sure when you get the CPS, the new gasket is in the box.

sometimes that code gets set because there is either too much crap on the magnet or a wiring issue as well. before you buy anything try cleaning off the magnet. pull the sensor off and wipe it off with a rag and do the same on the magnet that is bolted to the end of the camshaft. if enough metal particles stick to the magnet it can throw off the cam phasing. also take a good look at the connector and make sure there isnt any corrosion on the wires or signs of it being frayed

I don't have any pictures of the engine but isn't this the sensor that rubs on the intake? Driverside, going into the head?

that's where it would be. that's just the magnet under the sensor.

Ok well I removed that and cleaned it up..

Problem.. I might have stripped the thread going into the head, one of the bolts won't go back in. What do I do?

Won't go back in completely or just part way. If completely, see if you can throw some small washers in as well.
