i spin 2nd and a lil of 3rd wit those same mods
I have never gotten a boost leak check. I remember one time when Alex drove my car he quickly said I had a leak 'cause I didn't even lose traction in 2nd gear. I tightened all my clamps to help rule one out. I still don't lose traction in 2nd though, lol. With these mods, am I supposed to lose traction? I hate posting 'cause I risk getting flamed lol but this is a topic I really didn't know how to search for. These are my few mods.
AGP motor mounts
AGP wastegate (installed by sauce)
Mopar stage 1
Mopar BOV
Injen cold air intake
new spark plugs and MSD wires
IMO, I think my tires are in decent shape.
Thanks in advance guys,
-Edwin

i spin 2nd and a lil of 3rd wit those same mods
neither one of my SRT-4's broke traction in 4th
a stock SRT should be able to spin a little in 2nd... depending on where your located i would bring it to someone to take a look, somethings not adding up...
you definately will feel a difference from these mods but you might have some decent rubber that isnt alowing you to lose traction. consider that a good thing! by the way traction=win :D an exhaust might help a bit :bigthumb: as you can see i dont rip on anyone here lol everyone has questions that should get honest answers :D
i agree with scarface though if your worried get it looked at.

So your only two mods are stage 1 and an AGP WGA. The injen is not helping you bc it's a piece of shit. How much boost are you seeing?
And with the warmer weather and a decent tire you should HAVE traction in 2nd gear. When I had 320fwhp I had 235 Nitto 555's and I would only chirp 2nd gear when the weather was above 70.
its iffy.. depending on leaks and how much you boost.. but i think you should be able to break the tires loose at least a little in 2nd.
eeks, you're not the first person to tell me my intake sucks. note taken!
anyways, another dumb purchase of mine was getting an aftermarket boost gauge that I eventually found out has a rep of not always showing true readings. And to top it off, the shop that installed the new gauge, lost the stock one. But from what I can remember, when sauce installed the WGA and I still had the stock boost gauge on, it spiked to about 17-18 and held at 14. The new gauge shows slightly higher numbers than those. It's a prosport one. I know, I'm a dummy. lol.
Thanks guys,

AHA on long island can set that car straight... they work on most of the NY guys SRT's and everyone swears by them, cuz they are awesome, if you wanna take the trip (well worth it) PM me and ill get you in touch with them... the injen intake isnt horrible, 2.75 inches and it does the job, but its been known to blow turbos when chunks of it break off and shoot into the impeller... ouch, but i had that intake on my SRT back in the day, sauls old intake at that... i believe somebody on here is selling an AGP 3" for $150, do that and a turboback exhaust and you should be spinning all thru 2nd, but with your current mods you should be spinning... im going to guess a boost leak... just wondering what tires do you have ?
i have the stock tires and i put about 25k on them.
then your tires are shot. the stock tires are good for like 5-10k then they're pieces of shit. great tires when new, but they certanly don't last lol.
you're basically stock so not being able to break it loose in 2nd doesn't surprise me. every car is different. if you're concerned take it somewhere and have it looked at. i would really suggest though just finding someone to look at it for you, it's not worth the money to go to a shop.
also get rid of that shitty intake and boost gauge.
pretty much what everyone else said. tires are very key on a fwd car. def. look into stickier tire, a brand new boost gauge, and a better intake. when i had a decent amount of bolt ons intake wga, stage 1, ic, ic pipes etc etc i used to spin 2nd ALL the time because i had crappy tires. later on a put on a set of bfg drag radials and i couldnt get the car to spin the tires at all really :thumb:
ps check my for sale thread for parts.
Laugh out loud at Alex saying you had a boost leak because he couldn't spin 2nd HAHAHA!
Every car is different, every driver is different, etc. There's a lot of variables.
i'll avoid flaming you for saying thinking you have a problem because you can't "break the tires loose" ...
its easy to do a boost leak check with one other person helping you. Get a boost leak tester (make one or borrow/buy one). Its really simple and a good habit to get into.
A stock srt can break 2nd loose, if you know how to drive it. Just get the car checked for leaks and you should be good to go. How much boost are you seeing, right now?
also, regardless of what happens here ..... GET RID OF THOSE TIRES! 25K on stock tires is wayyyyy too long. Those things have to look like slicks, by now.
the only stupid question is the one that you dont ask...
do a search on boost leak testers on this and the other forum and either buy one or make one so that you can test it yourself.you will accomplish a few things that way
first you will learn about your car
second you wont have to rely on anyone to do it for you
thanks guys, i will def. follow your tips...
2 questions though:
is the intake making me lose power?
and i've read somewhere that the mopar BOV can cause a leak, is that true?
1- you're not losing power .... just not gaining anything with an intake. And the injen sucks. If the stage 3 kit keeps the stock airbox, then thats proof enough that the stocker is fine for now.
2- it can if you dont install it properly. Seal it with some copper rtv and you'll be fine.
I spin through 2nd all day.
Wierdest Mod list ever:
1 bar spring in a tial 38mm WGA
BC coilovers
DCR oil modifier
AGP tranny mount
180 stat
The rest of the car is all stock and no boost controller.

ant's mod list is win though. 2nd best mods other than just a stage 3 kit.
to the OP...do as everyone else said. buy the agp intake paul has. get a defi boost gauge. boost leak test the car, and get a set of new tires.
