I have 205/50/17 Blizzak LM-22's on the stock wheels. Soooo much better than stock BFGs.
So I saw this thread on the last site that was really good, but now that I'm actually thinking of buying winter tires/snow tires it's gone.
What are makes and models for reliable tires to drive the SRT-4 in snow/ice?
15 inch steely's? What does the steely mean? Man, this is some cold weather already.

I think im gonna jump on these Dunlop SP winter sport m3 tires. They're rated 9.2 on snow and better rated then the Blizzacks I believe.

The M3 is a great tire. I have the M2's on 15" Sport Edition wheels that I used last Winter. I might be selling them soon.Originally Posted by hozay09

$135 each at Tirerack. I'm looking for a wholesale distributor though. See if I can get some more sets for people who want em.Originally Posted by nosuchluck
I need winter tires for my car but at the moment can only afford 2 for the front, not a whole set. I haven't researched ANY tires yet, waiting until it gets worse out.Originally Posted by hozay09
Do what ever you have to do to get all 4. Do not drive with only the fronts, the back end of your car will spin out very easily. most of the time without any warning and at any speed.Originally Posted by gudeman00
I will believe this when I see it. The car is front wheel drive, the back end won't just spin out from too much power or torque as their is none, and the front is pulling the rear. If I have winter tires it's obviously because there's snow on the ground, and therefore I won't be taking corners fast enough for the back to slide out.Originally Posted by Vade46

Nice positive post to a fellow SRT-4 owner. If it really does happen you sure didn't warn me about it.Originally Posted by pearltsi

I just picked up 4 15" steelies with Blizzaks on them from a neighborhood PT owner. They only have about 200 miles on them and I copped them for $250. :woot:
i got Barum Bravarus....but i live in San Diego...so i got good wet tires lol
those are the sickest snow tires, PERIOD. end the thread.Originally Posted by hozay09

Okay, so four Dunlop WInter Sport M3's, 205/50VR17 on Tirerack sell for $547.50 after shipping (no tax), plus there is a $50 rebate right now.
So that's about $125 per tire.
Can anyone get these cheaper than that?
Also, are you better off getting the 15 inch steelies with snow tires? Is it a pain in the ass to change out tires?
You are correct in describing the powertrain. However generally speaking, IF the rear swings out the general population of fwd drivers do not counter that rotation fast enough...with additional precipitation on the ground it makes for a greater challenge. If you were to go with ONLY two snows, rear first IMO. Four is greatly recommended over two. Overall, I wouldn't even bother with the BF's in the snow-temps and tread are not suitable at all. :(Originally Posted by gudeman00
Wow rear before the front, weird. I have ways to get to everywhere that I need to go without going up a hill, or down, so mainly i just need to gain traction from a stop wherever I am. I am about 1/4 mile from the highway which is always salted/plowed so I'm not really too concerned about the roads being unplowed.Originally Posted by htheduck
Not sure exactly how quickly I can counter the rotation of the rear swinging out, but at least I know what to do if it happens. Growing up on a farm with my mom's front wheel drive car in the snow having fun teaches farmboys a lot.
I'm still looking at better prices for the dunlops. Looks like i'll get them at Tirerack if I can't do better.
Hozay... hit me up if you find the tires cheaper!!! WHOOP!!
my wholesale price from tirerack comes to like 499 for the dunlops 205/50/17 Thats shipped to my door.
Blizzaks come to like 524.
205 60 15 of these
Are like 230 shipped to my door. But tirerack does not sell 15 steelies
