    STICKY GEARS?

    Hi all,

I'm having this little issue.. ever since midday today my gears have been harder to get into and out of. This holds true for all 5 and reverse. I know these trannys give us a hard time, but I never heard of any problems getting it out of gear. It's not that bad, but I definitely felt a difference and it the problem came up out of the blue.. didn't get progressively worse or anything like that. Replaced the tranny fluid less than 10k ago.

Any ideas? Cooler weather? Clutch getting older (67k stock)?

Something easy to look at are your shifter bushings. Make sure they're lubed up especially the ones sitting on the tranny. I would also grease the shifter inside the car. I had similar issues and greased up the shifter and things got better. These are just some of the things to check easily.

Then of course there's the clutch and the tranny itself. We all know Jay is the master of transmissions so it may be beneficial to have him look at it.

Good luck and hopefully it's something small.

Might be the Throw Out Bearing Fork. When it wears too much, you will have problems disengaging gears. Nemo from Rage-Tek has some good info here:

Nemo has a replacement for the mechanical TOB Fork. If this is your problem, then you might look at the Rage-Tek Hydraulic Clutch Release Bearing.

    Hope this helps.
