Mercedes Split in Half by Drag Racing Neon
November 11, 2006 - Saturday morning just after 9am two cars were drag racing on Casho Mill Road in Newark, De. when a brand new Dodge Neon, with only 80 miles on it, hit an unsuspecting Mercedes splitting it in half.
The driver of the Mercedes, a woman in her 60's, was badly injured. She was resuscitated in the medic unit on her way to the hospital. She is listed in extremely critical condition.
The other vehicle drag racing left the scene.
Police believe that one of their own may have witnessed the race but not the accident.

just an update - A) the woman in the mercedes died, B) there was no Neon involved, it was a blue Saturn Ion Redline

I'm on a forum where these guys race. I won't post the forum.
It was a blue saturn ion, and a 350z.
The road they were racing on was small, the flagger could barely get between the cars. They were young and I dare say ricers. It was 9am on a busy street and the lady in the benz made an illegal/wrong turn.
The 350Z ran, and hasn't been seen.
if your gonna street race at least try to be a little smart about it

There are too many places to do this legally, keep it there.

I LOVE the drag strip for a couple reasons, less stress, u dont get in trouble, and u have a piece of paper proving that u won... but considereing the closest drag strip is about 120 miles... on a quiet highway from a slow roll is alota fun, ive done that alota times, otherwise its at a red light and i shut it down by 50 or 60, anything above that is rediculous, the 0 to 60 is the most fun anyway... but i never go looking for races... also, only on roads i know that are all straightaway with no shoots... nice and wide, with no trees... like the beloved ocean parkway... organized street racing is the most retarded thing ever... sad that somebody died, but its not the first time...

In order for me to go to the track I have to put in 2K in roll cage shit and equipment. Yeah fuck that.
That's one reason why people street race.

I understand what you are saying. But I'm not gonna cut up my car because a track wants to protect thier ass for insurance reasons.
