View Full Version : Feedback on a few tracks I want to try.

Well, I figure I got one, maybe 2 more track appearances on my BFG DR's (they dont seem to last too long :( ) and I want to make them count. I was looking at the following tracks for a test and tune to try and lower my times. I'm considering:
-Atco
-Beaver Springs (near state college)
-Mason Dixon
-Delaware Motorsports Complex
What I would like feedback on is the following:
a) Track prep for test and tune days
b) Number of runs you get in a test and tune
c) friendliness of staff
d) overall track quality
Any feedback on these 4 would be appreciated. I'm still on stock axles so I'd like to make this my first of two runs at a dragstrip that Im going to make for the rest of the season.
I've heard great things about Mason Dixons track prep, poor things about Atco, and very little about the other two.
Thanks guys and gals!

i don't like ATCO, it seems like the only time they do a good prep job is when it's a big event, so i refuse to go there, i go to Cecil County dragway instead

I'm assuming you live in the DE/MD area? Atco is a decent track. Far from perfect but not a bad place to race. I would say come up to E-town but they're not as great either. Guess it all depends if there is a special event coming up.

I always have my best times at atco, and that was before thier resurfacing job. They have a lower sea level as well.

Its not so much where I live, its an issue of friendly competition.
A friend of mine just drove his car to an 11.99@120. I know I can bet an 11.99 if I can get to a track with great prep. I just need one sub-12 second pass, preferably without having to borrow slicks.
Sub 12 second pass on street tires?!? In an Srt?!? I think if you pull that off you're God:rofl: Cecil County and Island Dragway are where I've had my best times to date. Cecil gets packed some nights but they run the cars thru quickly so you still get in a nice amount of runs.

LOL not on streets I have some DR's and if my clutch issue is fixed I figure a 60' below 2.0 along with some constant boost shifts and I have a shot at an 11.99

In an SRT4?!? This I have got to see. Noones come close to 11's without using slicks that I know of. I may be wrong but I've never heard of anyone doing it. Good luck either way.:yay:

Well I could get my 60' in the 2.0X range with DR's, and I didnt powershift at all. Its my hope that:
- The miracle 1.9X on the 60', plus
- Powershifting to get CBS on each shift, plus
- Getting to a track that isn't known in the tristate area for being teh sl0wn3Ss
= 11.9x @ something
based on what I have been told, I have to improve about 3 tenths to get into the 11's. Hopefully a 1.9X on the 60 is 0.1, which hopefully would translate into 0.15 on the E.T. and powershifting will get me the other 0.15

I ran a 13.80 stock at beaver back in march the first weekend they opened. Track prep was pretty decent(although this was my FIRST time draggin...), My street tires hooked pretty well on the track. They say it's slightly uphill though, dunno about the truth to that.
EDIT: I still ran pretty damn good though!
CECIL CO. FTW!!! It's downhill...But shhhhhh don't tell anyone.:woot:

it very well could. the track I went to had a visible uphill at the end. the first 1/3 of the track was a slight downhill, but the rest was uphill. Everyone says that track is about 0.2 slower on ET and about 2mph slower on trap than the "reference track" that is local around here. Only problem is, the local track has absolute shit track prep and if you dont run slicks they ignore you (but if you are a slick car they suck your cock with fervor!). I went twice and wont go again. would rather drive a few hours to get to a real track than waste my day and money for 2 or 3 runs at amateur hour.

tell you what.. that track is a HAUL for me, so if you let me use your slicks for a pass or two when your car is done, I'll wait for you. :woot:

^^ i think he means the track I'm calling "amateur hour"
dont worry, unless you decide to come to the other side of the state, you'll never race on it.

You never know I love to travel. But now I seriously doubt you'll ever make it to Cecil Co. it's in Maryland.

I've been wanting to go there...I've got a few more(pathetic mods, but its cool) toys I'd like to see if they make any real difference. I doubt it, but who cares, it's still a blast.

I already mapquested it. its about 4 hours away from where I am now, so its within driving distance for their saturday TnT's. The fact that the TnT is 6 hrs long and during the day makes it a possible drive for me to attend.

I'll let you know when my car gets back. I've been dying to run my slicks there. Best time there is 13.3@114 doing a 1000ft burnout on stock kdw's with my 50trim.:woot:

Sounds good...maybe we could get a small group together. I know a couple guys around here(4-5, srt's) that I could probably get to go for the day.

I always have a lot of people to come with that always back out at the last minute so it would be nice to finally have some people actually show up.

nice! are they tubed or tubeless? Think they can be shoehorned onto 6.5" rims, or is 7" the bare minimum?

tubeless but after talking to some people I think I'm going to get tubes for them.;) I wouldn't bother even trying them on a 6.5" rim. Forward motion is where I got mine. They were $625 shipped for the entire package mounted and everything. All I had to do was put some air in them and away I went.

We may be making this trip sooner than you think. Oh and you better start taking those DR's out on the road or something like I told you too and getting in some practice cause I think you'll be the first person I line up against just so I can get a feel for my car again. :yay: BTW...if everything goes right...What you doing this weekend?!? :hehe: :wank: :evil_laug  :thumb:  :ohno: :weee: :headbang:

Atco is pretty good, but it's not street tire friendly since u don't have the option of driving through the water or not. Everybody goes through the water there, but that wouldn't effect u. Gateway International is a great track if ur ever out in St.Louis...hahaha! good luck bro!!!

Forward Motion isn't a bicycle store...
