I have the Rota Torque's for my car. Click here! (http://www.srt-4mation.com/showthread.php?t=7639) Now it's time for beefy tires! Let me know what you guys think of these. Gracias. Keep in mind will be using 235/45/17 tires
My choices (in no particular order) Also, if you have suggestions for affordable, good tires let me know! KDW's do not come in 235's though

Affordable usually means a lesser summer tire or all seasons...?
(I'm busting your balls here): Your first post about wheels was 19:47 last night, and in exactly 9 hours and 51 minutes you post about obtaining the wheels and you didn't budget for tires?
Hozay - what is beefy AND affordable in your book?

I expect you to come at me with all you got Howard, i'm looking forward to it ;)
I want high performance summer tires. No need for all seasons since I will have stockers wrapped with winter tires later. I received an offer I couldn't refuse this morning so that is why I jumped on the wheels so quickly. Unfortunately, I could not get the tires as well so I need a new set. My tires I have now are far too thin 215 and will be sold.
The wheels are 17x8 so a 235 is perfect. My price range is $130 or less per tire. All three above are under $120.

I'd just be guessing here since I don't know the offset nor the spacer (if at all) requirements of that wheel.
Just find a right size tire that doesn't flex that much, or else you may have turning/fitment/rubbing issues.
Can't wait to see them.

17x8 48mm offset will require 3mm spacer upfront. 235 wheels fit perfect on the car and do not stick out at all. 225's would work as well but rim will stick out further. They were on an SRT-4 so I know they do not have turning/fitment or rubbing issues. Plus the added fact I have coilovers helps as well. If I had stock suspension it may be a possible issue.

Like the Yokahamas but Nittos would be my 2nd choice.

I really like the yokohama's as well but the Nitto's have been pretty popular. I'm really stuck on those two.

I'm running the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport and they handle great.
I do lots of canyon carving and I like these better then our stock tires.
ps.Those are some sick wheels and IMO look 100x better then the ones you're replacing.

Im having the same problem, i need tires that are affordable but i cant find any decent ones. I wanted to stay with Toyo's thats what i have now and love them but im not spending 180 a tire again. Im thinking Nitto's thats what i would pick. And they look good and are popular for sport compact cars, also repuatable so i would go with them. I also wanted to go with 235's do u think i would be ok? I have 35mm offset, 17x7.5 and coilovers. After looking at all these wheels I changed my mind, I'm thinking Yoko's FTW!! Also where are you ordering? I might order the same place if u find them cheap, let me know.

I believe i'm going to end up with the Yokohama es100's 235/45/17. Getting them for $112 a tire plus shipping. Came out to a total of $448 from the tire rack and they ship within a day. Can't beat that. I'd say you can easily fit 235's on a 7.5 wheel.

yeh thats where i will most likely order too. I know they will fit on the wheel but im worrying about the tire rubbing the fenders, im pretty sure theres like half an inceh between the tire and fender, i dont rub at all now but i have 205/50's on there. Oh well i think im gonna give it a shot and go with the 235's, why are the 235's cheaper then 225's anyway?

1) Don't tell me your running 205's on a 7.5 rim! Your just wasting money big time!
2) Depending on what tire manufacturer, they will charge according to whats more popular. 225/45/17 tires are a common size on other makes & models.

yep, lol. But i got them cheap cuz i knew the owner of this place i got them from and he had them in. At the time i wasnt worried about it anyway i just needed tires. I didnt know much either and just wanted to be safe and i knew they would fit. If i knew then what i konw now i would have saved alot of money.

yea if they have the size your looking for KUMHO MX, thier cheap too, tire rack calls them extreme performance tires, thats higher than max performance summer tire, next level up is a DR, but i thought i heard somewhere that the nitto 555 is almost a DR, traction wise, don't know about them, but i do have the MX's and they are nice, mine are a 225 50 16 the wheel is a 16x7 with a 38 offset and they just barely touch the trans at full right lock

Potenza RE-01R (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Potenza+RE-01R)

god, those potenza's are LOUUUUUDDDDD

08-31-06, 01:26 PM
yes they are loud, but yes they have one of the stiffest sidewall I've driven on, and they start/stop/and turn how/and when I want them to...very predictable.
keep in mind, there is about 3 or 4/32 left on those tires....perfect for track time!
amy send your eagles my way when they are done.
I also didn't forget the toyo's that you have: I just need to order special lug nuts for the SSR's before I can take them off your hands.
