Rev Matching

just taking a poll to see who actually rev matches, or can some of u even heal toe correctly while racing?

for me, i practiced as soon as i started driving. therefor i rev match everytime i drive my car anywhere, its a natural habit by now :cool:

i live around a lot of twisties, and the advantage is great. ive tried heal/toe but never realy practiced, therefor i cant do it that well, esepcially when taking a turn hard and fast :eek: one day i hope to learn though.

Heel and toe on the track for me...anything less/wrong will upset the car...and/or slower exit speed.
Rev match on street/highway.
Clutchless shifting too for giggles (sometimes).

i do it always, doesn't matter if im taking a 5 minute drive to school in a straight line or doing the twisties in the reservation by my house coming home at 2am. :D

Rev Matching is when you downshift and insead of letting the transmission raise the rpm's as the gear ingages, you raise the rpm's yourself as you engage the gear Ie. Downshifting from 4th to 3rd at 70 mph. You would raise the rpm's to about 4500 as you downshift and engage third. This "supposedly" relieves the stress on the engine and the transmission.

I rarely do it but then again i just crashed my car so dont listen to me.

right on rinko... i do it often, but if i want to save my brakes when coming to a stop, i dont, cuz it slows the car down more if you dont rev match while you are decellerating

I revmatch when I downshift to accelerate, but when i downshift to approach a light, i do not.

I cannot heel toe in this car due to my size 13 shoes!!!

i do it under normal driving conditions just to take the shock off my clutch disk and input shaft and whoever is sitting in the passenger seat.under aggressive driving i dont because i dont think it is needed.makes no sense to me because im probably flying into the turn and need fast engine braking as well.
daily driving i hardly ever use my clutch outside of first gear

Just shift without using the clutch. You have to do it at the right RPM and you can't force it into gear. If you do it right, it just pops into the next gear with a little bit of pressure on the stick.

yeah sure...

the only gear you need a clutch for is 1st.next time you are in your car try this...take off as you normally would using your clutch.slowly accelerate to about 4k and put pressure on your shifter down towards second gear.as soon as you let off the gas you will come out of gear.as the rpms dropyou are keeping moderate pressure on the shifter into second.as soon as the input shaft slows down enough you will slide right into gear.same goes for all other gears.its a bit tricky when downshifting and needs a little practice but to downshift without the clutch you need to take it out gear and rev the motor up to a higher rpm than you would have if the gear was engaged and do the same as describe before.as soon as the input shaft slows down you willgo into gear.like i said its much harder to downshift than to upshift.

clutchless shifting takes a tremendous amount of wear and tear out of the clutch.and i would only recommend doing it under normal driving conditions.if you get good at it you can do what i do,when i race hondas i stick my left leg out the window and race them without the clutch.first they laugh,then they cry :D

nope as long as you are doing it right it wont even put a nick on the syncs

how do you do it under race conditions (meaning heavy load)?--i can only upshift and downshift w/o clutch at highway casual conditions.
