thought you guys might be interested in these (http://www.saferacer.com/gf105rasutw.html). remember, if you're running any sort of non-factory power addder you now need a fire jacket!

I thought that was a really shitty thing. The power adders that they are talking about are "non factory turbo \ Supercharger, NOS." Few weeks ago a guy showed up to AP with a 57 trim Del Sol. He was at the track last Wed. They forced him to get a fire jacket. Even though his first and second pass were low 15's
They are also talking about some sort of helmets....Any knowledge on that??
Thats more of a... suggestion to those of us at E-town. I was told that we needed one as well and so far this season, N2MB, AWD_THIS, Myself, etc... have never been bothered. For the price though, its good shit.

Nah, Snell 2000's expire in like 2010 unless NHRA changes the helmet rules again next year.

yup we discussed helmets. snell releases new safety regs every 5 years usually. acceptable ratings now are snell 2000 and snell 2005. helmets are good for 10 years. so anyone with a snell 2000 is good until 2010, snell 2005 is good until 2015. dot is recommended but i don't believe it's required for nhra (someone with a reg book check that if you would be so kind :) )
fyi - you can get good deals on helmets on ebay. i picked up a snell 2000 two years ago (that's what was out at the time) dot kbc helmet for $70.
vic (awd_this) was asked about a fire jacket his first trip to the track this season, he told me about the change which is why i looked into the new regs. while the tech might not always ask you to pop the hood or ask questions, every once in a while you'll get one that will. personally, i'd rather spend the $60 and have one in case they ask than either not be able to run or have to spend $150 or more on one of the ones that they sell at the track.
remember folks that the safety regs are there for exactly that, our SAFETY. they are not out to get us, they are trying to protect us. there were some rather bad accidents last season at etown because of stupid people not following rules and some tech inspectors that got lazy, so they are trying to be a little stricter with those issues. being safe is not a bad thing.
How do you find out what your helmet is?!? I wear my motorcycle helmet at the track and never had a problem using it but I would like to know for myself if its not going to be allowed sooner or later. Where would there be some sort of marking on it that would tell me.

jay it would be either on the back of the helmet, or inside on the lining....it would usually say snell m2000 something or other like that....and they are usually good for 10 years unless the rules change, i think amy said that already though haha, but if its rated "m" (motorcycle, or quad use) its not good for car racing, if they want to be strict about it they wont let you use it....especially almost being in the bottom 11s :woot: for you congrats by the way haha .....if youre really worried about it you would need to buy a snell rated helmet that is "sa" rated..which i forget what it literally means, but thats for car racing, because its fire resistant supposidly and roll bar impact resistant...which apparently the m helmets arent....

yup if you pull up the llining inside the helmet there's a sticker there that tells you the rating. snell 2000 is brown, i don't remember what snell 2005 is.

Oh so its safe enough for me to fall off my bike at 175+mph with nothing around me but air and the road but it's not safe enough for me to go 123 in my car?!? That's some horse shit if I ever heard it.:dead_hors :LAME: I didn't look at my helmet yet cause its out in the car and I'm too lazy to go look this second. Oh well either way I'm gonna keep using it till they tell me different. Only track I've ever been to that's looked under my hood was Maple Grove(:nazi:) and they do that to anyone that races there no matter what kind of car.
Thanks Rocco...It's only been almost a month since I did that.:hehe:
