1. i love electronics
2. i hate to be teased
haha more like megasquirt,megasquirt:)
Not mega yet.... It will be mega when the injectors, n20 and water injection go squirt squirt at 7000 rpms  :auto_07:
did I mention that assembled and installed its at a cost less than $800
this may be a dumb question, but what is this?
FULLY PROGRAMABLE... Standalone Engine Management... meaning that its open source and there is potentially no function locked out. You can write your own code (if you know enough about cars and C (program language)) to do whatever you want, but almost everything has been written allready.
Only downside is its not plug and play, but if you were to come across some PCM plugs, it could easily be done

I wouldn't put it that way. From what I've read it's a pretty respected Standalone. My friend with a probe, 95ProbeTech on here, has it and loves it. The functions seems pretty bad ass.
irs actually more powerful than an ems because it is open source, but you have to know how to write code, and you have to wire it yourself

What jay said. This is why you let an experienced person such as myself or a experienced shop such as N2MB wire this bad boy up for you. Open source = endless possabilities.
If lets say you want a program to make a traction control program based upon reaction from your ABS sensors, you can do this. If you cant do this, then you can have someone that can write the code, or that has allready written the code give it to you and you just load it in.
The best thing of all is that there are far more people using megasquirt than AEM. Reason being is that this was around before AEM and its used in alot of cars where they would never spend the money to design a EMS...
Now if anyone would be interested in something like this... it's not going to be publicaly available for a month or two, but I'm beta testing this week and when it does, this unit will be as badazz as anything else on the market.
just my 2c

Sounds like a great idea Lance. To be able to have custom code written for this device is key.
Keep me updated in how you do with it. :bigthumb:

actually people are saying that it is better than AEM EMS.
ITS ALIVE!!!!!
MEGASQUIRT is in full effect. Triggers have been confirmed to fire a 100% to stock ignition system. Only thing I need to do is have N2MB hit my cam gears with the timing light to confirm what I show on the MS to be the the light shows, and here you all go... cheap standalone.
Although, I'm not a vendor, I have talked to a vendor on here, you know who you are, and these units could be installed and tuned for under $1300 (rough estimate on price), but roughly $1200 cheaper than the AEM EMS unit without tuning.
Again, im not selling anything, just throwing out some ideas.
Another thing for you all is if you decide you dont want to run timing on the unit, you can just run fuel, and NEVER have stumbling issues and you can run whatever fuel pressure you want and tune for it. Meaning... big turbo guys can set the fuel pressure on their regulators to 50psi at idle and still have better than stock drivability and have enought fuel for 40psi.
Food for thought.... please send some feedback
i love it. the 1st gen neon guys have been using megasquirt for a long time now. this is an old, but great product. i think you can actually build one from parts you buy at radio shack plus their board for heap cheap...like less than 500$. lance, did you buy a prepackaged megasquirt? or did you get the parts and build it yourself? either way, congrats to you. you may be one of if not the first srt on megasquirt. good luck with it!

told you it wouldn't take long :)
FYI, I run a MS3 with a VII board. 6-1 crank input with coilpacks (vs. stock distributor) and full fuel control. PMW so I can use stock IAC, I have the boost controller circuitry but don't use it, wideband input, dual 02 input (both set on LC-1's), water injection, nitrous, line lock, fan control, 2 extra programmable outputs for my VRIS.
other options included that I didn't chose to do were sequential shift lights, traction control, etc.
the car runs completely on the standalone (stock computer disabled) but was originally spliced into stock ECU and just controlled fuel.
N/A I picked up 12whp on a dynojet just from a tune.
Quite simply, this puts even high-end standalone's to shame. I've worked with a couple AEM EMS's and I can easily say that this lets you do just as much and in a much simpler layout.
will this thing execute code if it's incorrect? =v what kind of fail safes does it have?
i've read thru some of the code already and have a few neat ideas already

yes. you could easily destroy your motor if you don't know what you're doing.
I used a startup map from another probe owner with similar boltons, and started from there. even now with the boosted setup, my cold startup values are basically the same (slight accounts for the bigger cams but not that much difference).
if you want to get ass deep in code, contact RyanPzz or shadome on the ProbeTalk forums, they've worked hand in hand with B&G right from the start and are the big reason why we got this so early and so cheap.
Well, i take great pride in saying that I am the very first SRT-4 to run the megasquirt.. it was my life long dream... haha
I wussed out and bought the pre-assembled one from RS-autosport with all the options because I really wanted to get the ball rolling, and thanks to my impatience, it was a success, and my car still runs.
Mr_eh, yeah, you can def blow the living crap out of your motor if you dont know what your doing, but you can do the same on an AEM. Heck, you can even blow your motor up with an AFC, but... if you can read/write in assembly, then you can create your own fail safes, or when they finally release the MSII'n'spark-extra, you can write the code in C, which is what im waiting for.

so you're saying then, that you'll code for all of us? ;) :woot:  :notworthy
i hope...
