my new hood

ok ok, those of you that know me, know i have been wanting an IPP hood for quite some time now...........what can i say, dreams do come true, and boy was this deal a DREAM.....

Not only did i finally get an IPP hood, IT WAS FREE, yes, FREE. a buddy of mine wanted to go back to the stock hood, and his sxt happens to be black, well, we swapped!

cracks in the gelcoat, only way to hide them is to paint the whole thing.....besides, the ipp hoods look mean as hell painted ;)

word to the wise, NEVER use PPG Strataclear, its absolute trash, the cheaper OMNI works better!

i just spent the last 4 days REPAINTING this hood becuase for some reason, i had a ton of tiny little specs in the clear coat, little tiny pinhole size dimples that i couldnt figure out

just now i checked on it, and i have the SAME problem, primer went on fine, paint went on fine, but the clear is total trash, the orange peel is my fault, but these little specs are just outrageous, i filtered it 3 times(doubled up screen when i poured it into the bottle, and the bottle has its own filter at the bottom as it goes into the gun)...

i'm gonna let this hood cure for a week and then buff the hell out of it, i hope it gets rid of those specs

mine didnt turn out good at all, that damn clear fuxed the whole job up, i'm gonna have to wetsand it down and buff the livin hell out of it..........or strip and redo the whole job, all over again, with a differant clear........

i'm so dissapointed with PPG now, i cant believe this clear was so shitty......twice in a row
