Hey guys\gals,
I finally got around to checking out the great deal of squeaking coming from my rotors yesterday night. Turns out some of it was the dust shields rubbing against the rotors. However, I found out my rear driver's side caliper has crapped out on me. The one pad was shot and was able to replace it with a new one but now the pad is dragging on the rotor and it takes two hands just to turn the rotor. Can anyone recommend a stealership that won't be giving me the whole 'your warranty is void because you put so & so parts on your car, which magically caused your caliper to malfunction' or 'your aggressive driving habits caused your pad to wear, so we cannot warranty this, even though the rest of the pads on the car still have half their life left'. Help me help me lol
********** EDIT ************
Found out the problem. Turned out my guide pins on the caliper were corroded. Had to sand them down a little bit and re-grease them. Car runs great! No more jerking between shifts, no pull to the left anymore, BOV seems louder, etc. All around MUCH better

rob,

just replace the caliper & bleed the system if that is the problem.
OR the other problem could be related to your ebrake - which is why the rotor perhaps won't turn.

pad dragging - does it mean it was worn out AND dragging?

this should be an easy fix.

The old pad was grinding bad, but with the new one is dragging also because the piston is not retracting back... it's just keeping the pressure on the pad against the rotor. It is an easy fix, but I wanted to save myself the money it would cost to buy the caliper being that I have a warranty. Looks like this weekend is going to be the perfect oppourtunity to change all my pads with Hawk HPS pads ;)
