Its back again post your Q&A's here.

Ill leave off with the last post from the old thread.

So Check This Out

I put a bleed in my vac line(greenline) for my wga, the car spikes 19/20 and holds it all the way to like 4000/4500 rpm then drops to 16, sweet, i guess?

Im racing a buddy whatever its all good, a guy in a s2000 tries me and I beat his ass now as Im driving away I shift third and give it some gas and the car bounces (like the bounce you get when your in gear at low rpms and you take your foot off the gas) and theres a loud boom

I then notice the car is boosting 12psi, Im like wtf
I pull over and I see the bleed I put in the line blew off the vac hose, so I was like ok.

Drove home nice and slow and decided to wake up the next morning and figure it out. I wake up take the intake off and decide to do the bleed again and use the bleed line that agp ships with the wga, I also notice*****IMPORTANT***** the pink line that runs to the stock surge valve had come off. So i plug that back in check all the other lines and its all gravy, I run the car and it would peak 18 and hold 15 wtf, so I made the hole a little bigger on the bleed, peaks 19/20 holds 16/17 sweet. I also shortened the green line, I took the part that goes into the turbo took it off and used the other part of the green line.

When Im in 3rd gear the boost gauge dial moves alot in between 18/19 and 16/17psi and settles at about 16/17 at redline, it dosent do it in 2nd gear.

I was driving home earlier today and the car boomed again and I was only boosting 12, and this time only the pink line had come off. wtf.

Also in 4th gear my tranny dosent wanna hold the gear, I have to hold down the shifter with some force
It dosent do it at high speeds only at low speeds.

Alright Questions
1.I know why my first bleed came out, it wasnt tight enough, but why did the pink line come off twice, I was flooring it?
2. Why is the car holding more boost to redline now, the bleeds i have were about the same size maybe a little different?
3.Why is the gauge going nuts?
4.Whats up with my tranny?

Ok I think I asked enough Thanks

That reminds me of this time, this guy was too lazy to tighten the nuts on TopOfNewJersey's wastegate so he just shoved a phillips screwdriver into the bleed to turn up the boost, ahhh memories.

zipi tie all your vac lines...and if ur really feelin up to it replace the cheap chrysler clamps on ur hoses with stronger ones. i blew the pink line off and the clamp for one of the coolant lines before. not fun. i had coolant and white smoke everywhere...

bubbatank
09-14-05, 12:45 AM
Sweet yeah I've zip tied most of the vacs allready b/c I dont want them to fall off.

So what should I do next to my car most of you know what I have so whats the next best and most cost effective thing I can do.

Thanks again

I forgot what you have on your beast bubba. I'd suggest a throttle body or maybe the wideband... i think thats what its called. When was your last tune up?

I'd like to actually pose a question for you bubba. I have a mbc that mounts under hood. How about some pics of mounting positions???? I yeah, have a couple ideas, anybody find a great spot to mount under our hood??? Thanks in advance Bubba & Co.

bubbatank
09-14-05, 01:15 PM
Yeah I have a friend that has a mbc under the hood and I think the last time I saw it he had it close to his brake master cylinder I gotta check again and Ill see if I can get some pics for you.

Throttle bodys not a bad idea and yeah I think its wideband o2 sensor?

Or you could get all types of badass like Jay (nevertoomuch) and put some cams on her. It makes your car sound mean, well that and exhaust. Not sure of the hp/performance gains but you'd have to get her tuned again if you did the cams. If your only going for track gains then the turbo upgrade has to be on your mind as well. But Amy (PSi Chick) said that the PPE coilovers make exponential differences at the track. Mainly due to the fact that you can "lock" up the rear end and in essence eliminate the weight shift.

I would suggest motor mounts! solid top, bottom and tranny mounts. then get the Mopar STS w/booger bushings. and pick up a boost controller. if u plan on keeping the stock turbo then get the maxxfabb exhaust (modified borla exhaust w/3" downpipe). if u plan on a turbo upgrade then get a full 3" all the way back.

suspension helps a lot...here's my current suspension set-up:
Mopar Stage 1 Springs
Prothane urethane suspension bushing kit
ACR/PT Cruiser sway bars
Toyo Proxes 4 tires (225-45-17ZR...don't get 225s until u get a wider rim than stock)
JLM Motorsports top and bottom motor mounts

It is a relatively inexpensive set-up that gets rid of wheel hop, drops the car an inch, and rides like a champ! but when i get some money i'm gonna put in the IPP coilovers.

--- best place to mount the boost controller is as close to the wga as possible. behind the battery seems to be a popular spot since u can zip tie it near the cluster of wires and it's easy to adjust.

Seriously I hate the rain dude, everytime I wash the car it rains no matter how sunny it is outside.

Quick Question I think I know the answer- Our cars take atf4 tranny fluid right?
Thanks

03's take only atf+4 if there was no lsd or phantom grip added and is still open diff...

Any 04-05' trans and 03's converted to lsd need 4 ounces of lsd friction modifier added to the atf+4...

I concur with the pink shirt guy...stick with the Mopar from any dealership. most of them have it in stock, if they dont they'll get it for u by the next day.

yo bubba...do me a favor....get rid of the MSD coil pack....its a piece of crap...your stock coil pack does just fine....the msd coil pack is ment only for a regular neon..not meant for the srt...i found out the hard way...shit is a piece man...get rid of it...thats my .02cents.....l8ters

bubbatank
09-16-05, 01:43 AM
What happened with your coil pack and how long did it take for it to happen, Im not doubting you but I saw an increase when I installed it thats why I wanna know.

Bubbatank

BlackDragon
09-16-05, 02:56 AM
In theory the increase in voltage output due to the change in the ratio and material in the primary and secondary windings of the coil would bring benefits. The spark induced with higher voltages would be able to jump a larger gap in the spark plug electrode more effectively, creating a more complete burn in each cylinder, and less blowout. However, the stock coil is a high output coil and the msd does not produce much more voltage than the stocker, and has a larger failure rate, so all you really end up with is a snazzy red coil that may crap out on you.

BlackDragon
09-16-05, 02:57 AM
6 months seems to be the average failure time...

bubbatank
09-16-05, 10:40 AM
Damn ok I see, yeah I guess Ill just take it off and sell it to someone on ebay or something, 6mo that sucks why is this thing such a piece of shit, why do they make something thats gonna go bad on you very quickly.

I think msd means Must Suck Dick at least for the coil.

Thanks guys , bye bye msd coil (in a month or so)

It just wasnt meant for the SRT...i put an MSD coil in my girls car and it runs great. she has a 1st gen dohc and its the exact same coil pack.

09-16-05, 07:59 PM
Damnit it just pisses me off that I spent $70 on that shit and it wasnt worth it. I guess Ill just sell it on ebay for like $50.

Thanks Guys

Hey have any of you ever used royal purple, A friend of mine said its the best stuff for any tranny so Im thinking about trying it tell me what you think.

Sweet
Hey what do you guys think about the catch can, is that something that should be done to every srt-4 and I also heard something about a $20 Catch Can mod that some people made themselves. The ones you buy are pretty damn expensive so whats up wit dat.

And if the do it yourself mod is good can someone tell me how to do it.
Thanks

my favorite catch can is by TWM motorsports or somethin like that. Ask Brian(Kwik-E-Nuff) for the name and website for the company. they have a sweet catch can. i had a home depot catch can...gets the job done, but i wanted somethin that looks nice and works well. but if u have some "martha stewart" in ya, u can probably whip up a decent lookin catch can for cheap. all it does is catch oil so there isnt much benefit in payin a lot of money besides appearance. some come with check valves...runnin a check valve is a personal preference though.

sweet dude yeah I found some nice ones on ebay for like $20 bucks and I can get it in a certain color which I thought was cool. Ill probably get one of those thanks.

Those cars are designed around different fluid characteristics then srt4's...

Yeah I know it works good in most cars I wanna know if it works good in our cars, because that the car that matters I have a friend thats a mechanic and he says its fine to use I just wanted another opinion,

Hozay I read the thread that is helpful for how many Qt's I need to buy, I just wanna use royal purple, because I know its good.

Thanks

royal purple is a heavyweight gear oil, and is considerably thicker and less viscous than any automatic transmission fluid. The t850 is designed to use the lighter, thinner automatic transmission fluid. Switching over to a heavier gear oil will draw cold weather problems and possible damage during that time.

We are going to try amsoil's synthetic atf, which is a fully synthetic fluid compatible with the +4 that is used in the t850.

Damn thanks for the advice, yeah I guess Im gonna hit up the dealer tommorow and ge the regular atf-4 for our cars. the t850 is our tranny right?

Yes, reference hozay's sticky if you have any other questions. Should take about 2 1/2 quarts, and one bottle of lsd additive if you have one...

Ok SHIT HAS HIT THE FAN

I was going to change my tranny fluid so I get under there I pull out the drain plug and here I am expecting this massive amount of tranny fluid to come out and boom I get like 4oz of tranny fluid, black as night and of course nice little shards of metal. So I fill the tranny back up and look for the leak and sure as shit, transmission seal is bad.

So now I have another hurricane coming
I've been driving my car around for God knows how long with like no trans fluid, so I dont know wtf could be wrong
I gotta go to the dealer and hope they dont give me shit about the warranty and fixing this bullshit.
God only knows how long my f***in car is gonna be in the shop
And Im pissed off.

On a happier note I swapped out the msd coil for my stock coil (woohoo)

I need some consolment guys

Yeah so I finally get the car to the dealer, like 6 hours later I get a call, "Yeah um... Jeff, I've got some bad news, your transmission is cracked in two places, and its not covered under warranty, and its gonna cost $2800 to fix it." HOLY SHIT, $2800, How the fuck do I deal with this shit. The hole is like pin-sized no bigger that a period ->. or maybe a lower case o->o ok it in between that. Im taking the car to my dealer tommorow because they wanted to take a look at it and see what they can do. Wow dude like wtf am I gonna do. I think this shit might have been this way since I bought it. I did buy it used.

Yooooooooo Im back homies
Ha Ha

Yeah so I went to tampa to visit my dad and go to slamfest oh yeah. There were a couple of srt's there but mostly nutslammed big rimmed trucks, but also so nice muscle (my personal favorite) so the show was fun but the best was the.................

Racing
I finally took my car to the track woohoo Bradenton Motorsports

First some prerace facts
This is my first time at the track with my srt
Mods: S1, AEM SRI, AGP WGA, MSD Wires, NGK Iridiums .38, Prothane Race Inserts(I installed them in tampa)
Drive time to track:1hr
Driving Speed:70-105
Went With: A friend who I talk into buying an srt

I installed the inserts before I went to the track, the open run was between 11:00-4:00 so we get there at 3:00 and Im thinkin ok I'll let the ic and my engine cool down a little pump some 112 and get ready for a couple of runs, there werent to many people there. We had to register at the top of the tower so me and my friend go in and one of the officials is like you guys better hurry the fuck up because staging lanes close in 2 mins(uh HOLY SHIT, what happened to 4:00) ok so no race fuel oh yeah and I had to eyeball adjust my wga, I lowered it for the drive to the track.

Ok so Im in the middle of the staging lanes trying to adjust my wga under a burning hot sun next to a burning hot turbo and exhaust manifold, (oh yeah my ic was also hot as balls) so I think I have it close to where I run it at 19/20 spike 15/16 hold. And guess who I get to race against a 05 GT with intake headers and exhaust.

Ok where the next to go
The two cars in front of us take off and the mustang starts to burnout, I let him finish his little wussy tire squeal and I rev it up to 6grand and pop that clutch and let um rip as I roll up to the tree I look at him one last time and he just looks at me like oh shit Im in for a rough time.

Pre stage
Stage

Yellow
Yellow
Yellow
Green

2k rpm launch here's what I did

R/T - .657
60' - 2.023
330 - 5.975
1/8 - 9.163
MPH - 78.08
1000 - 11.882
1/4 - 14.217
MPH - 95.32

I wasnt upset with this time considering the circumstances, everything I mentioned above and I wasnt close with the wga I only spiked 17/18 and held 14/15, with a couple more runs I would have done better but hey not bad, also my friends is a stock 05 and he ran a 16.6 so I felt bad for him but its ok.

Oh yeah the mustang, I wupped his pony ass by a car, It was also his first time at the track so we chit chatted and he said damn that shit is fast and I left. It was pretty cool and I cant wait to go back because Im gonna break 13's next time for shure.
