ok well my friends friend has a stock 99 mustang gt so he wanted to race me(basically stock intake n bov) we did it from like a 40 mile per hr pull... i pulled a head bout a car length and at about 4th gear he satretd gaing i shifted to 5th at like 120mph and then at liek 130 he passed me.... is it jus that v8s have to much top end power for a stock i4 to handle or is there sumthin wrong wit my car.

i pulled a few gt mustangs, but never at speeds higher then 120mph....i always shut it down at that point...but i would be leading everytime up tothat point...ive even beaten them from a dig, but the answer is yes they have way more top end and will take you at higher speeds...

1st off, wrong section... 2nd off you might have a boost leak, what bov do you have? the leaky mopar?
99 GTs have TERRIBLE top end(not that the SRTs is anything to brag about either)... they have less whp they our cars do. I pulled a car on a I/E 02 GT when i was BONE STOCK.. you should be doing the pulling up top not him..they are slower cars

Stangs are not known for their top end.. they are known for their torque.. it took Ford like 30 years to finally give a mustang 300bhp
the previous years were always like 200whp 280wtq or 215whp and finally the 99s can put down like 230ish with 300wtq

if alls you are running is 10lbs of boost then you have a LEAK! Stock SRTs run anything from 12-16lbs of boost.. mine was steady at about 13-14 when i was stock.. see if you can have some1 near you that has a leak tester help you out..(im assuming you dont know much about boost leaks)

i forgot to mention at 5th gear it felt like my car jus gave up...like it had no more life in it

Almost all cars top gear, whether it be 5th or 6th or whatever will be slower since that is meant to be an overdrive gear and is geared lower to provide better gas mileage on the highway.

yeah there info is kinda bs...some of its dead on and some if its way off....the srt-4 was rated at 14.3,14.1 and 13.9 in 3 different magazines i have read including motortrend which says its 14.3 if i recall...point is thats crap, different drivers and different track conditions at different elevations will see totally different times:head_scra

In order for a 99-04 GT to pull a 14 flat he is gonna need a 1.8 60'.. Ive run against stockers at the track and watched them pull 14.7s @ 96 with a 2.1 60' ALL DAY LONG.. My best is 14.1 with a 2.2 60' and that could have went lower but now im modded so..
itainteuro.. where do you live?

where you from dred
You should have no problems pulling on GT's...that's all i've managed to get to run me and they're slow...that was me being stock and them with whatever they had...you certainly have a leak. You can check out How-To's to figure out your problem

definately get some one to help u out checking for boost leaks, my car is an 05 and i got it in OCT, i just did a test last month and i had 2 leaks.. so u should check into that.,, is that 10psi just in 5th? or is that everygear?

I dunno if you got a boost leak or not. But you should have been at least 10 car lengths ahead of that mustang at 120 (unless you started a 40 mph roll in 4th gear). I've been all they way to 150 ahead of a mustang no problem (Stock).

The only other thing I can think is the driver... haha. turbos can be a tricky beast to drive if you've never had the taste before.

I had the same issue with Mustangs before I added mods. I would go from a dig. They could jump 1 1/2 car lenghts before I would hook. The issue was not the car. It was me. I was launching at 3200-3500 without feathering the gas. By the time I caught up, it was over. But this was only light to light racing.

The trick to any car is keeping it just under tire spin for maximum performance without losing ground. It's hard to work with turbos... especially since our turbos are tiny and spool with minimal amounts of gas. Then fluttering comes into play... gotta work with it and find the sweet spot.
