For those who don't have access to srtforums..
Well a couple days ago my headlights would not turn on anymore. So yesterday I pulled out the multifunction switch in the steering column and had trouble getting the wire harness connector out of the switch.
When I finally got it out it was melted and all screwed up. I am so lucky I did not have the whole car burn up.
I have been smelling a weird smell in my car for months, but I kept thinking it was the defrost.
So now I don't know if I am screwed or not. Someone posted a picture of the same thing that happened to them.
Burnt connector
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
WTF is that about...i have never heard about that before...

truthfully i thikn if a company could find out what caused this and what could prevent this from happening, it'd be a great product, but if this has happened it like they said in the other forum, best thing to do is get another connector and start splicing together to get a quick fix, b/c i heard the wiring harness is some big $$$$$
Mine did that but it was after I used cheap High watt bulbs. I had them in for about 2 days with no problems and then the next night I had no headlights. The following night everything was Ok again but I switched out the bulbs immediatly. Everything worked fine for about 8 months, then all of a sudden my fog lights would not work and I would have to "roll" the headlight switch no more than halfway to get the headlights to work. If I just turned the headlights on like normal, they would not come on. The brights would still work, but only if I held the switch back while I was driving (which I had to do a few nights when my lights finally stopped working completely). Needless to say, the switch and wiring was fried.

this happened to nyydynastyyessir!
it turned out to be caused by my stupidity. i wired my foglights into my sidemarkers (so they will turn on without headlights being on). Over time, it cooked the left corner of the connector.
