Since ETOWN has the Swap Meet this weekend, Island Dragway is open for racing. Should cool off pretty good once the sun goes down.

So I'm thinking about heading there for a bunch of runs. Let me know if you want to meet up.

Dan, bring the mounts to the track and we'll see about getting them on. At least the top one :)

Both are easy to replace. The top one can be done in about 5 minutes. Seriously. The bottom one is more involved since you need take off the tire and the plastic wheel well covering and a few more bolts. Still not that bad at all.

woo hoo, me and brian got my lower mount in today... it was actually pretty easy when u find the right place to put the crow bar and move the motor alittle, went in in 10 min

Well, the night started off pretty good with the first 2 runs. I was spinning the DR's like crazy and not hooking up much. I was surprised with these time since I was spinning first gear like a mofo.

Here are the results.

1. 13.458@105.94
2. 13.384@105.94

THEN...the dude at the water box comes up to my window and asks if I am running with an open exhaust. Me being the honest guy and not wanting to get kicked out after 2 runs says, YES I AM. He says, you need to close it. I said, aight. I pick up my second slip and the dude at the slip shack says the same thing. No open exhausts at street night. OWNED!!!!

So I go back and throw the plate back on the Needswings DP and then things got a little inconsistent :(

3. 13.880@98.03 - My ECU said WTF happened to the open DP?
4. 13.652@103.91 - Not bad since I wasnt hooking up much with the DR's
5. 13.591@104.87 - Still not bad at all
6. 14.046@102.76 - GEEZ, they were spinning!!!
7. 13.802@102.40 - almost acceptable but I've run much better on streets
8. 14.163@102.76 - Painful
9. 13.925@103.36 - Not happy about this one
10. 13.906@104.17 - And this one

So besides, run #3, my speeds didn't fall too much. I was surprised to see my first and second run with exactly the same trap speed. Interesting.

So this is how I see it. I have 2 options after last night. Since I've had the DP, I've runned with it open and adding the FMIC gave me some good gains.

Option 1: Run the car only when I can run an open DP :confused:
Option 2. Buy a full 3" exhaust :D

I am going to choose option 2 since I plan on going big turbo next year. I just need to find the right one for me.

So that means that the Needswings DP will be going on the market soon with the stock exhaust piping.

Stock exhaust OWNS all!!!

I whole idea of the pipe is to have that 3' opening. Cat or no cat it's still pretty loud and noticeable. At least in this case it was.

The issue is that they do not want to have an open exhaust on street night. They have no issues with you run during unmuffled time trials. I think they do that on Sunday's at Island from 12-5pm for $25. So in reality, if I want to run at Island with the DP open then I need to run on Sunday.

Really no biggie and I can understand them wanting to keep the noise levels down even though you see that other cars are running no mufflers.

Not that big a deal bro if you just change the dates that you run. You can take you chances like I did and run it open until they tell you to close it. There are obvious gains with it open and there are still gains with it closed.

Plus you can still get those gains on the street. So no worries in my unless you get caught running with the open on a Street night. Then you either need to leave or run with it closed.

yeah, i love island.. since we got there early, we had mad runs yo.. even though i was disapointed with my times, i still had fun..

best run 13.936@ 101.19 60' 2.219.. that was my first and best run.. all down hill after that.. i guess it's good considering this was the first time at the track in a year. and maybe like 10 time all together.. kept spinning them all day in first n second.. till next time
