You might need a filter for your rca line sometimes the alternator sends too much powa!!! If the hissing is in anyway related to the rpms of your car go to radio shack and get a filter. I called the radio shack b/c i forgot the exact name. Wating for him to get the name of it..............
Rf choke or a Ferite Data Line Filter. Basically the same thing the descriptions are the same, all they do is filter radio frequencies*sp.
Hope it helps man.

try turning down the gains on the amp.that worked, but it sucks because now the interior speakers aren't as loud as they were before. Is there another AMP setting that I can turn up?

Try that filter man if its at all related to your rpms (the hissing that is) then its just crossed frequenceys. The piece may cost you 15$ at the most and im sure it will eliminate your problem if its how i described... sure sounds like it to me from what ive read. Turning the gain on the amp down sucks and its a common problem if you have multiple amps. Good luck brutha.

lol
anyway, the hissing is gone. so thats good.

Fucking buy the filter so you can crank them back up, Im almost positive thats the problem. But if your cool with turning the amps down to hide the problem, good. Cheaper, most definately besides you will probably extend your eardrum life another 4 years by doing so

i thought alternator interference caused whining, not hissing.
chin, can u tell me y i only get hiss from my changer and not CD or radio?
power wire runs down driver side. speaker and changer wires run down passenger side of the car.

Both can be mistaken for eachother. If its a flat out whine that you get with no music playing but the volume all the way up say on a gap before the "secret songs" its most likly the amps being bitches. But if it has any type of relation with the rpms as far as frequency or volume its most likey from the alternator. I dunno could be a shitty ground too, stereo systems are gay. I still havent put that f'n amp in my car  too lazy.

first check your ground. make sure that it isn't loose. the best place to put a ground wire is to a factory bolt. but make sure you scrap off any paint in the area. the second best is using a silver screw and screw it into paintless double metal.
if your ground is good the second thing is to check the wires itself. make sure that it's not running along any other wires to close. that might cause a problem. i just did a sound system in an 1985 caprice... and the power had to run into the passenger side and in the pass kick there's a computer. the power wire had to be away from that otherwise it'll might a shit load of noise.
try that and tell me what happen.

i'll have to take a pic of my grounds. it's (3) 8 guage wires screwed to the brackets that bolt the rear seatback down. it's prolly the paint needs to come off.
