Okay, hear me out....
It is TOO expensive to be driving out to DPA and/or AP!!! So... for the others that are suffering just as much as I am, (Face the fact, i miss you guys too...) can the CITY crew have a local meet? It is well known that DPA is home of the NY Chapter, but with things the way they have been, there is no way I can get out there every friday... or even some fridays. I don't even remember when the last time i was out there. If anyone is with me on this... let's set it up...
What do you think?

Hmmmm. where in the CITY can everyone meet? Let along PARK

HOZAY!!!! There are plenty of places to go... it's not to be a major meet. It's just for the locals, more or less. See everyone that goes to DPA lives out there... for people like me and cokey, thats 80 miles going and coming... and with gas... HAH!!! There are things, plenty of things to do. And when i say the city, i mean the BOROUGHS- not only Manhattan.
But seriously, what do you think?

I'm sure if u can whip something up where everyone can meet and not have any hassles, you'd get a good crowd. DPA is far for people who don't live in Long Island. I'm sure a bunch of us Jersey guys would go as long as we dont have to drive through Manhattan.

So.... Let's set it up....!!!
All my BOROUGH people, speak up....!!!
Let's get this started....

Nothing wrong with that.

we had a meet in the bronx last summer. that worked out pretty well. did some cruising as someone ended up with a flat tire and we went around for hours trying to find a replacement (it was sunday...not so easy since we have retarded stock size tires). we ended up going to a spanish resturant. it was a good time. we should do that again....
PRChula26

i definitely have no problem with that one...
I just don't want others to be as deprived as me... :(
so i need help with this one...!!!

okay, this is where i stand.
I can find an applebee's to keep the tradition. As soon as i get input from all interested, we can get this started as soon as next Friday. Got me?
Let me know...

sounds good. how about we try somewhere OTHER than applebee's? i think we've all had everything on the menu by this time!!!!

the drive isn't the problem, it's the gas!!!

I was thinking about trying to set up a weekly Queens meet
Theres and Apple Bees on 188th street right off the LIE(fairly big parking lot in the back, or at Queens Center Mall, but would have to meet in the indoor parkinglot
NYYDYNASTY
09-16-05, 05:58 PM
with all these "local" meets going on....i'm surprised that the "bigger" meets are .... well, bigger. oh well.

does it have to be friday nights? wouldn't it be better to have it some other day so that people from LI can come to the "boroughs" meet if they want to? how about that big shopping center (gateway center) on the belt parkway (exit 15) with like boulder creek, olive garden (not really sure), etc. it should be accessible to all boroughs (and NJ) through the van wyck and the belt.
just my suggestion.

I'd come out from Suffolk for meets.

i like the ideas... so if not Friday... when?
Friday is DPA
Saturday is Aviation Plaza
And if we aren't going to take Fri from DPA we can't take Sat from NJ
Gateway Plaza as in Erskine St., right?
We don't want to setup so many local meets. One borough meet, one long island meet, one westchester meet, one jersey meet... keep it like that. like dynasty said, with so many local meets, we don't want to over power the main ones. Got me?
So... Applebee's was asked to be out of the option because everyone has already had everything on the menu. And even if so.. Queens Center??? Meet in an indoor lot??? Are you nuts?
So first, would we like to meet in an area full of shops and restaurants? If so Erskine would be ideal... even College Point. And a lot of members know where College Point is... If not at a place with shops, etc. would you like to do it at a park so we can all chill? For example, someone mentioned Astoria park under the 59th St. Bridge (queensboro bridge). How does that sound?
I appreciate all the replies guys, so keep them coming.... And let's try to hurry so we can have our first meet by next week.. :p

um i think college point would be cool but astoria park i went there once and the cops stops us and where searching the car cause it was around 12 and the parking lot was closed plus there is racing around there

09-16-05, 09:20 PM
Amiga-you've got a great idea for a borough meet: ;)
Astoria park has nothing around--isn't is dark and dingy?
Whitestone (College point)-by the Boulder Creek/Starbucks/McDonalds is a good choice with ample parking-although around 2200 retail shopping is done and the lot starts to clear with security cruising around.
Georgia diner off Queens Blvd-(I recall) has a big parking lot in the back-but private property.
Other choices with surrounding retail would be sections of Northern Blvd-as well as Queens Blvd.
It is also tough for NJ peeps to come into boroughs: they would be cutting through Manhattan 33% of the time, Brooklyn 33% and GWB 33% - all of them tough choices-depending on TOD.
NYYDYNASTY
09-16-05, 10:00 PM
Manhattan 33% of the time, Brooklyn 33% and GWB 33%
H ... I'm upset at your math, here. That only adds to 99%.

College Piont sounds good i would go it's right by my home town
but if you wanna do it like in the day you would have alot of problems anywhere especially there in college point where you have Bj's wholesale club
which is alwasy packed your night of choice would have to Sat's
even though the meets in jerz take place but if all you guys are crying about gas prices then
that would be your ideal choice day
that doesnt mean we can't take cruises down to AP on sat's
So I would agree on Sats for you guys and like i said i would make my appearance on sat's there in college piont as long as i dont work or even after work
so if you want Chula get it rolling if you want i'll call Boulder Creek for you and set this up ?
llamame mujer
but don't let this make you guys stop going to DPA on Fridays And AP on sat's like i said we can make sat a cruise night
to places like the astoria strip , the parking lot at the throgsneck bridge, also the parking lot by the worlds fair marina in Flushing

Tony, i have been trying to get in touch with you. CALL ME!!!
Howard, the 1% can be for the PA crew that might come through...
We need to find an area that is not going to bother us with the security. I have been talking to MetsFTF and Cokey... Anyone with suggestions please either let me know via nextel, email, pms, or im's...

Friday's should be designated as "Track Day" until the end of the racing season. At least that's my mind set :)

BUNGLES is a loser!!! We are talking about making a meet for the local SRT owners becasue of NO GAS MONEY and you are talking about Track day??? HEHE... Luv ya Jeff...
Okay, since i haven't seen much response on this, let's try something out...
Saturday night at 10:30 meet in the Home Depot parking lot, along side the fence/trees by the big sign off the Eskrine St exit of the Belt Parkway...
If this is good, let me know so we can start knowing who is gonna show up...
If all turns out well, maybe Jersey will come through??
Like i said, let me know...

am i understanding this? a double meet night for saturdays? 2230 is late for the weekends - but great for me on the weekdays since I work evenings and I work in queens/li. as for weekends-the ap time of 1900 is good for me-however i don't think i'd do the double meet.

damn .. so this is where the thread is at.. lol.. ok people.. sounds good.. I don't know that location to well, so wouldn't know if it's good.. yeah it's hard finding a good parking lot to chill in..lol how bout a deserted street..? i've been seeing a few brooklyn peeps showing up.. i was thinking bout doing a bk meet just to see who's who.. nothing big.. cruise around town, scare some local ricers.. >;] well, i'll be keeping my eye out for some spots.

I doubt this will be an OFFICIAL date. I don't like the idea of having two meets on the same day, no matter which chapter it is. So, let's get everyone out there, see who's who and talk then.
Tony, there are a few restaurants over there like MetsFTF said. Boulder's Creek and Olive Garden. I think there is another as well...
I believe this is exit 16 off the Belt Parkway and the Home Depot sign you can't miss...
Cokey- we can drive up there together...
