There's two different thermostats that fit.

STANT part #'s 13788 and 29788.

I have the 13788, I went into Advanced Auto and the guy had one in stock. He pulled it up and its for a late 90's Nissan Altima 4 cyl and he asked me if this is the car and I just go yeah and he sold it to me.

ordering online = rip off

get it at pep boys. just don't tell them what car it's for. give them the part number and tell them to shut up and give you the part and you know it's not for your car.

Strange....

I have to wonder if it ever got installed?

I just installed one in my 2004 Eblue which was running a average of 205 degree's and would jump to 210... Much hotter then my Red SRT.

The 180 cured this problem, the car now will rarely see 200, then it dips down to about 190. It also takes the car longer to warm up to a normal operating temperature..

You should have seen something....

Install is very simple, simply remove the bolts on the filler neck, I recall them be 10mm, have rags ready to absorb coolant that might spill out...

the thermo sits in a rubber seal which holds it into place, remove and install in the same manner making sure that you don't put the tstat in upside down..

bolt on filler neck then top off with coolant...

It's on there right Lucille. I was the right in front of never2muchboost (Jay) as he was putting it on. Didn't do a damn thing for me. Even worse when I turn on the a/c. My temp goes as high as 240 sometimes. Sucks cuz then I have to shut it off and open the window. :(

somethings not right. Maybe the tstat is sticking or defective in some way even though it is/was new, I would try another one.

Also, maybe the radiator needs to be be flushed and tested, and refilled.

Another thing it could be, but very doubtful, is maybe your temp coolant sensor is going wacky, that is also easily replaced...

i have a 180 as well. i have found that in stop and go traffic the temps stay at the normal 200 or so, but i see a big difference at speed. the temps are way lower than what they were with the stock one on there.

another thing to think about is your coolant. when we did my turbo, we swapped out the coolant and i used something i found at autozone. this coolant sucks. the car runs a lot hotter now than it ever did before. i'm switching back to the mopar stuff and throwing in a bottle of water wetter and i expect to see low temps again. maybe you just need to change the coolant.

Beats me. I'll have Jay take a look at it while it sits in the shop. I know while driving on a not so hot day it stays under 180 easily but it does go over 200 easily and like i said, shoots up to 240 when the A/C is on. We'll see.

Man I did get ripped off. :takingAsh sonofabitch.

I got a 180 in mine now and I even feel a slight difference in power along tempature (so long as it's around the 180's)

datalogging the car it will operate around 183-185 on it's own with the A/C on while at highway speed. It will go down even further with the heat on (I got it down to 180 and then a stable 181. It has gone up to 207 while sitting still whether the A/C is on or off.

The car warms up just as fast as it always did but it just doesn't go as high on the guage.

It used to hover around 200 all the time and during extensive idling it would once in a while go all the way up to 235-240 it won't go any higher than this for me.

are you guys using prestone 50/50 mix?

check the actual thermostat spring, when my uncle and I removed the stock one we notice it wasnt even functioning how it should. Look at the spring and the upper part for rubbing, my stock one was on its way to becoming non-functional... the thermostats arent really heavy material to begin with. Another thing, I'm sure when you did yours hozay you burped the system when refilling the coolant levels... I could see it messing up if you had air pockets in there that you didnt squeeze out.

note: my car stays at around 175-185 during all cruising conditions, even with AC power on. (jays seen it :) )

yea i did chin's last week, made sure there were no air pockets. the highest his goes is 200 at idle.. then down to 175 during cruising speeds. I put in prestone 50/50 mix on it, but the radiator fluid that came out of his car was orange. ryan and pete are using stant 29788 and so am I even though i haven't found the chance to put mine in.

Did you drill the small 1/8 in hole in the t/stat. the stocker has this hole and I did 2 without it and very little drop and the rest after that with the hole had a noticable drop in temps, just fyi.
