Me or this Porsche I'm trying to chase down...
Fortunately he got caught in traffic...but you can hear his turbo spool up and down from inside my car!

*Edited I've re-captured the vid in higher quality: you can hear the Porsche clearer now....as he rapes me.

Yeah but I am stock... :(
Unfortunately the video quality I had to keep small and you can't really hear the Porsche well. But that car rocked - it did all the passing in my run group.

Thanks for all the comments folks. Chris I can't thank you enough for the loan of that camera. I have three tapes worth of video consisting of 40-50 laps where I did some passing and of course faster cars passed me.
Should I post more? (wrx, vr-4, m3's, porsches, corvette, 325, 328, Minis)-were in my run group

Go ahead, those vids are pretty sick.
good shit howard...nice job
how fast were you going on that big turn?
htheduck
11-01-05, 09:01 PM
80 ish -(you can barely make out the speedo once I unwind the wheel)
That big turn is the South Oval or Nascar turns 1 & 2
is that the fastest you can hit it with out loosing traction or moving up towards the wall?

Perhaps I'm over analyzing the question - but I don't know how to answer you Mike. Tires/tempurature/humidity/camber/debris/speed/elevation/surface and self preservation are all involved.
Point is: you can always go faster. Are you asking about my car/my setup? My ability? Or generalizing?
talking bout your car..? i know in general you should be able to.. it all depends on the car correct. if it's set up a certian way.. I was asking cause it seemed like you slowed down a lot before you hit that turn..

Mike if you are talking about the first turn 1 (like first few second of vid) -- Yes I had to scrub off some speed going into that turn--it was a matter of a comfort level for me.
I have to consciously remind youself - I drive HOME in the same car I drive on the track with. I will reach a point where I can afford a trailer and a tow vehicle, but that is not now.

*bump for edited video (post#1) - I captured it with higher quality so that you can hear it better.
Here is the same Porsche later on in the day that rapes me again exiting the South Oval into turn#3. He catches traffic by turn#6 but by then he's gone. :(

They are not the best videos by any means. There are much better drivers out there than me. I certainly had a lot of fun those two days at the track.
There are a few more vids in the racing section, from my same weekend.
