how to: cut out cross member in bumper

To do it the right way you have to have a body shop cut them out and fill in the gaps in the bumper. Otherwise it will look like total crap and then just don't do it. :2cents:

First word of advice.. Do what you want.. Second word of advice homie body shop.. Thats where i got mine done i would def recommend filling in the slots though when you do get it cut..

Mines done lol its been done for a long time now i think it looks amazing with a big front mount... i just wish at the time i had the money to fill in the holes although i just have it all covered so you dont notice

well im getting my front bumper repainted in the spring time because there are ALOT of scratches and some spider cracks from when i hit a deer so i was thinking of just cutting them off sanding it down nice and seeing if they can just fill in the 3 of the 4 sides since you cant really see the top one.
thats my plan atleast.

i think these cars look so mean with a big front mount lowered and the Cross beams taken out!

If you do get it done you should go all out and get the notches filled. I think lunchbox on the Forums wrote a pretty good How-To to do it yourself. That white Neon you posted doesn't even look good in my opinion.

QFT, its all preference but you have to remember the only way to un-do it is to buy a new bumper. search for lots of pictures before you do it and then choose

Best thing to do is to stare at a pic of it done for days on end and see how you feel about it afterward. Also see some peoples cars that have done it in person as well. Get a good feel for it.

Unfortunately, i bought the car like that and had to shop around for about half a year to find an uncut black front bumper. It is an opinion, but there's no doubt that if you decide you don't like it anymore you'll be spending upwards of $500 on a new painted bumper. The only advice I give is : take the time to decide if you really want to do it or not, don't make an impulsive decision one day that you want to hack up your bumper.

Radiator paint holds up well. I didn't drive my car much, if it's daily driven, especially on the highway, it will get chipped up quite a bit.

yea thats what i sprayed it with. there arent that many chips now. but in the spring if when i get my bumper repainted im gonna give it a nice new coat of paint

i would honestly say wait till you lower your car before you cut it. just by being lower, your entire car looks different and better. and when you re-spray it black, get as much of the existing paint off...you dont want to layer that stuff thick. post pics when you do it
