Need some general pointers here about PTB and driving habits.
Info: '04, S0, S2 WGA at lowest tension: 1/8": spike 15 held around 12-13
Codes: 1188 code cured by capping red line.
I'm seeking answers for proper: inputs on throttle vs. rpm and why because of PTB.

Would like to know how to/how not to drive under normal street/highway conditions as well as how to during track days: because of the lean condition of PTB. Just help me understand the negative reasons: when does this happen, why, how, cure, driving habit, etc.

What are the negative longterm effects? I drive like grandma for the most part on the highway. How should I drive? (I've read don't WOT at 2k rpm, etc.) Don't drive at 5 psi? WOT on the track is ok when/how?-as I will be on a track for two days in a row later on this week. TIA

*Edited: Perhaps I don't know the EXACT symptoms of what PTB is...all I know is that I need to feather the throttle in 1 gear & 2nd gear pulls much harder now.

either drive like a grandma, or go WOT

you wont get anywhere near stock drivability with an aftermarket wga.

what i do, is just drive slow enough to where you dont build more than 3-5 psi @ part throttle.
i dont even look at the tachometer, just look at the boost guage.

If you are using the stock boost control solinod you shouldnt be getting PTB.

howard, i'm back from tx, and will be doing some vac line routing tonight to try and figure something out about stock turbo ptb. also, there is a great write up about it at neons.org. i believe it was 91cavgt who talked about it. he took a hobbs switch @ 6 psi, and a 3.9 volt diode, hooked tit to the tps out wire, so any boost above 6 psi would show the pcm wot. i am going to try this as well one ov these days, but for tonight, i am just going to try ome different vac line settings. i'll let you know

howard.. like myfault said.. just drive slow and when you wanna pass some1 DOWNSHIFT.. the WGA kills your driveability but it gives you awsome power gains..

bottom line is do whatever you have to do from keeping the car more than 1/4 throttle or so cuz you will get full boost with no fuel to compensate and thats bad

buy a powerpaq and add fuel

another option

ptb is the reason i got a dual stage boost controller... my low boost setting is at 10/11 psi so the ptb is not all that significant and i dont even really notice it... when i want to really get on it, all i do is press a button and i instantly have 17/18 psi

H, i get PTB as well. I just learn to live with it and learn how to avoid it.
as everyone else said, aftermarket wga's ruin driveablility.

good luck.

Exactly, just keep it below 5 psi and you should be fine.

Otherwise like everyone says, drive it like you stole it, WOT or go home.
