you can put a 23 or 24.5 x 8.5 on there on stock suspension. either one will work.

for your mods dr's should be fine...if you heat them up nicely they will work..i picked up slicks from brad tho...im going to give those a shot and hope i dont break an axle..it all depends on if you are willing to risk an axle and also what your plans in the future are...if you are thinking big turbo..i'd go with the slicks now

what amy said.
although I might be the only person ever to have wheel hop while doing a burnout with slicks :D

well i dont have any experience with slicks at all nor has anyone taught me how to launch on slicks

and if you broke one it wouldn't be because of the slicks, it would be because you did something stupid. hey we've all been there. i broke an axle at the line once. wasn't the slicks' fault, i did something stupid and broke it. completly my fault. can't blame the tire for your screw up.

so is there "something stupid" in particular i should try to avoid
letting off the throttle completely while doing a burnout is a bad idea, dunno what amy did but... yeah...

DR's with my old S1, Foward Motion Wga, Mopar Exhaust, Stock IC, and STS netted me a 12.7@109 and a handful of 12.8's. It was hooking ok but I rolled out around 1600RPM.
Slicks you can get the car to launch and get a good 60ft which is very important in track times. I always cut a 1.7 60 on slicks, when I was stock turbo and also on my S3 setup.
The only reason why I think drs are cool is because you can go play with your car on the streets and still get good handling.
To answer your question, you should get a wide wheel to put another tire on. The stock wheels are too skinny and you won't get as wide of a footprint as you should and I know the BFG Dr's recommend a wider than our stock wheel fitment.

what pas said. the reason that people break axles is because they don't ride out the burn out and instead slam on the brakes as soon as they let off the throttle. that will definetly pop a joint.
my stupid mistake was starting my burn out too far back in the water box so when the car started pulling foward the tires suddenly grabbed dry pavement and stopped spinning lol. snapped the driver's side axle into a gazillion pieces. i have a video of it somewhere too, that was a good one. again though, completly my fault. well i can place a little blame on my line guy for not pulling me forward enough but i should have payed closer attention to the cones.

i did the same thing as well 2 or 3 years ago..was my fault not the tires lol thank god for jay if it wasnt for him my car woulda been on a flatbed on the way home instead of me driving it home

also when ur staging the car after u lite the second bulb up get ur rpm to where u want it and hold the e brake up with ur hand on the button and release the clutch a little till u feel the car preload..once the third yellow light goes off drop the e brake dump the clutch the rest of the way and make sure ur on the gas..now a few things vary depending on what tire ur running but im sure u get the idea..not every1 uses this method and every1 has there own way but its just another idea for ya

Never tried this, this may reduce the initial shock of the launch. I broke one side one day and the other side the following day. I had it right where i wanted it and i usually let it rip... however i ran in the summer with the track all gooie. When i ran my 11s i ran when it was in the 30s and it was snowing on and off and the track was cold as hell. So i spun.
Amy I really hate to disagree with you about it's driver error all the time because I had the axles apart on several. From what I saw they all crack the trunion aka tripod which is made of a poor quality metal. The axle shafts don't break or even get damaged.

i agree with you on where they break, i've seen it plenty of times. but with around probably 100 passes on slicks the only problem i've ever had was one that i caused myself. and i'm not easy on the launch, consistant 1.7's all day and a dip to 1.6 going from 5k is a hard launch lol.
here's a perfect example of how they snap lol
