Island dragway Questions

I have not raced at Island dragway and thinking about runing on sunday
1 how is the track prep?
2 how is the shut down? (heard it was short)
3 is the parking paved?
looking to run a 9.39-9.29 at 155+
Acto has a big race E-town was street wars and the MD tracks one has Jr dragesters and the other has a swap meet so its Island dragway or no racing

opinions vary but it's not as good as E or A.

it's a bit short. the return lane was like the moon and narrow as hell.
3 is the parking paved?

honestly, I think you'd break the car on the track, not from your own actions but from the track itself.

Mind you my opinions are from before the track was under 4 FEET OF WATER from a flood so maybe they fixed it? Haven't been back there since. Ask Amy about her race against a dragster and the dude who flung parts at her car as he raced her.

just checked with Google Earth; track length looks to be about .6 miles end-to-end.
showing Atco at .7 miles and E-town at .69. So I'd say it's a bit shorter.

If you go to Island make sure you use the left lane. The shutdown is kinda short but there has been cars there that have traped 300 and stoped. Just use you chutes should be fine.

I wouldn't run your car there unless you absolutely needed to get some shakedown runs in.

The waterbox area is real short and pretty much looks like ass unless they've changed it. The 1/4 mile is a little bumpy but then again it's an old dragstrip.

if you wanna go to island..do it on a friday...street night..not alot of cars and can get alot of runs in...when i go i usually only wait in like for 5 minutes then i go. prep isnt good but good to go on a friday if you wanna get practice in

when traction is as big an issue as it is with his car, track condition on a street night isnt going to be favorable

island on a sunday means u might be sittin in the staging lanes for 1 -2 hours in between runs. i'll be there 2morrow too most likely, but only b/c all the other stuff goin on at other tracks

Is a Mom and pop type track and I have seen car in your et and speed run there and some faster. I go just to check it out and see it for your self (I like it I have not race there on a long time) but we plan to take our 00 SRT when done(oh it a swap an 05 drive train into a 00body) and that will be next year

What a dump I have raced at over 15 tracks this year and this was by far the worst track ever. The race track was dirty the food was bad and there was no track prep or maybe thats how it is allways?
The car spun the tires hard on the first pass and made a move to the center line I shut it off ran 10.50 @120MPH
On the other pass I took more power out of the car it spun the tires and it moved to the center line again I stayed with it got the car back in the grove and ran 9.76 @149.78
Not a bad day for that track but most important the boost control is working and thats why I went there Jay helped me fix the boost control It broke last week at MIR

yea island sucks. i was surprised to see like 4 other red SRTs show up. i had my best time ever yesterday of 12.9 at 106 with a 1.8 60foot. <--Munky is gonna give me shit for this b/c of what we talked about yesterday lol

Island is not known for a professional track but more of a test and tune (at your own risk) kinda track lol its just a track where you can go with your friends and just have a night of fun i ran 13.4 at 108 last tiem i was there and at atco i ran 13.1 at 112 atco is just simply "a fast track" all cars are known to run there best there

I will have to try but Friday will be tough since I have to drive home 3 hrs from school and wont get home till 3 or so.

if u go on sunday i can pretty much give you a guarantee that you will get 3 runs within like a 6hour period. i dont know what their deal is but they're just super slow on sundays

Well it is suppose to rain on Friday and Saturday, not bad weather for Sunday, but I dont feel like taking the car down there and spending the whole day for just 2-3 runs.
